Hello all! Just a quick note to provide some additional background and clarification on a recent print article that I was quoted in on ABC News. As you know, a reporter only has a limited amount of space and can’t necessarily report all of the comments that a source gives them. When I was asked about what causes aggression in wild animals I summarized it by saying “food, fear and sex” and then went onto elaborate on each of the fear factors.
I noticed recently on another blog some confusion over the “sex” part of the quote. The additional information that was part of the interview but that did not make it into the article was an example of a younger male tiger, for example, coming into an area and trying to take over the territory of an older male in order to establish his dominance in the territory. That was the essence of the comment. I hope that clears up any confusion that may have existed. As always, feel free to email me directly should you have any questions.
