Life After the 100th Mile
After dealing with pouring rain the previous week, I was met with sunshine (cue the sound of angels singing) as I hiked onward to Rock Gap under blue skies with beautiful scenery. Things got even better as I got to de-stinkify with a shower, fresh clothes and food—I couldn’t wait for food! (Did I mention the fact we almost ran out of food?) On the plus side, I discovered I’m an expert at rationing—or need to use better judgment next time!
I found adulting sucks as business took me off the trail for a week, but I continued my journey from Rock Gap where I had help getting to the trail from Beverly’s Shuttles as I headed towards the NOC about 30 miles north.
Barely hiking before 2 p.m., we made it on the trail. The amazing views continued along this part of the trail and we took breaks along the way to enjoy it.
At Winding Stair Gap, we encountered another shuttle through Macon County Transit. They provide shuttles three times a day—very helpful for AT hikers!
All in all, it was a fun leg of my journey and I got to sport one of my limited edition IntrepiDan Appalachian Trail bandanas.
Speaking of my bandana, you can score one too—plus $700 worth of gear including a $300 REI gift card! Just enter my Ultimate Trail Magic Package give-away by visiting IntrepiDan.com/contest/.
